Abstract

Officer, U.S. Army. History of Panama from its discovery by the Spaniards through the Second World War. The essay discusses the Panama rail-road, first built in 1849, French involvement with the construction of the canal, U.S. foreign relations with Panama, Panama's public education system, and communism in Panama. The Panama Canal Company's bylaws are appended to this work.
